Action Editorial Assignment

I would say that was the most unforgettable class we’ve ever had in Digital Photography. Although the purpose of playing kickball was to take action photography, we had so much fun in this special class event. Indeed, we were playing in the softball field for the entire class period. Indeed, we were enjoying the kickball game. Indeed, we learned about photography.
Honestly, I really do not know how to play kickball. I guess it will be similar as softball or baseball. We separated into 2 teams, 2 of us would have chance to take photos. My team played catch first. Beside those who stayed in the bases, we needed someone who could run between two bases. I was playing that role at the first. Runner was supposed to be fast and adroit. It was not an easy job. When the player kicked the ball, you need to pay full attention to figure out where the ball was going. Fortunately, I was able to catch one ball.
Next round, my team was playing kick. Judith was definitely the best player. She could kick the ball far way and was able to make a home run. I regretted that I was wearing a pair of slippers. My shoes tended to slip off when I kicked. However, I enjoyed that kicker position. Because kicker can control the game, everything starts with the kicker, starts as the moment kicker kicks the ball. I made home once, unluckily that was the only time I made home. My teammates did an amazing job. I did not remember the score, but the score was not important to me anyway.
I got to take photos at the last round. Action photos are not easy to capture. Time, light, and composition are the main elements that photographers need to pay attention to. Two of my action shots are captured when the ball is in the air. The reason why I did that because I wanted to show the motion of kickball as well as players tried really hard to catch the ball. One of them is really blurry. I wished I could have change the shutter speed or put the camera on a tripod. Another picture I showed on my blog was taken when the moment kicker kicked the ball. I took it not because I liked the kicker position but also because it demonstrated motion. Another one I took was one player trying to catch the ball with a blurry background. I did that because I wanted to create a contrast between player and the background.
It was a great experience in photography class. We moved photography class from the class room to the field. It developed the relationship between classmates and teachers. Spring is coming, why don’t we do more activities in photography class?

It is coming!!!

That is gonna be a home run.

She got it.

player is in motion.

Action mini-assignment

band room
I took this picture at angle. I want to focus on the piano keyboard to emphasize the contrast between the keyboard and the fingers. I shot this picture at an angle rather because I want to create a leading line. The background is blurry in this way it creates a depth of field.

Hall way
I took this picture in the hall way. I enjoy see this the contrast between motion and the steady background. Through the basic imagine adjustment, the motion of the fingers can be seen clear. I probably should have chosen a better background, but I like the poster in the hallway.

I want to show the motion of turning pages. I was trying to avoid taking it at an angle, but I want to be able to see some of the words in the book. I was hesitating if I should crop more and show only the book in the picture. I think it is better this way because I can see the clear background.

Ten Action Photographs

The leading line of the picture grabs attention.

That is a very nice capture of fast action. The "shape" of the
I like the color contrast in the picture and the color of the cloud.

The color of the strawberry makes clear contrast with the background color.
I like how the loops compose in the picture as well as the color in the picture.

Red and white color dominate the picture. The action is capture in a wise way.
The picture clearly presents the motion of the bullet. I enjoy the shadow in the background also.
I like the eagle and fish are composed in the middle, the water mist becomes the background of the picture.

The action of the fluid contrasts with the rest background. The color of the fluid looks pretty.

The clothing of the person in red contrast with the greenish sea.
